Hospice Services for Patients
Hospice patients may require different intensities of care during the course of their disease. The Medicare Hospice Benefit affords patients four levels of care to meet their clinical needs, these levels are: routine home care, continuous home care, general inpatient care, and inpatient respite care. The Hospice Benefit was created to ensure that care and services are offered where the patient lives, whether that is at home, assisted living, nursing home, or hospice house.
No matter the level of care you or your loved one needs, you can find it at Agapé Hospice. We understand that depending on the progression of the illness, a change in the location and level of care may be needed. We’ll work closely with you and your physician to ensure all medical needs are met.
The most important components of hospice care services are palliative or supportive care. This type of care helps provide a better quality of life for the patient in the final stages of their illness. The Agapé Hospice team is able to offer maximum relief for the patient by taking a comfort-oriented approach to pain and symptom management. Our experienced hospice staff knows how to provide crisis care and expert palliative services for those in the advanced stages of their illness.
Inpatient and Outpatient Services
The goal of hospice services is to provide the most comfortable environment for those suffering from a terminal illness. Some choose to receive home hospice services, which allow them to spend their final days surrounded by loved ones in their home. For others, hospice in facilities is the better option. Agapé Hospice provides both home hospice and inpatient hospice services.
Support for Families and Loved Ones
Terminal illness affects more than just the patient. Agapé Hospice offers services that support the family members and loved ones impacted by the patient’s illness. These services include grief support to help the patient’s family during this emotional time. The caring hospice staff also provides spiritual support for both the patient and his or her family in the final stages of the individual’s illness.
Unfortunately, many people do not seek hospice care services simply because they do not know that it exists or they do not yet understand the benefits it can provide both the terminally ill individual and the family. Agapé Hospice strives to educate the South Carolina community about the benefits of end-of-life care services.
